How are you connecting to your router? From the sounds of it, it seems that you are connecting wirelessly. At default settings, I believe your latency is normal due to the router sending out a "beacon" every few seconds. You could try turning the beacon off and see if that improves your connection. (It has been mentioned that turning off the beacon *could* improve the wireless connection.)

I'm having a similar problem with my WRT54GL v1.1 with the new 12533 firmware. The wireless pings from my macbook are all over the place, most of them 1000+ ms. My windows machine are sporadicly varying between no reply, 1ms, and 600ms. Somewhat better than the mac, but not good. However my wired connections to my router are excellent and all 1ms or less. Not sure if this is because of the new firmware? I did a 30/30/30 before and after my flash.

I am running a slightly different build (mini 12548) on a different router (Asus WL520GU), but I just ran a ping test to that router and they were consistent 1-2ms.

Try a mini 12548 and see if that changes things. Perhaps one of the additional packages in std. isn't playing nice.

Yes....just don't put NEWD-2 on that router....like the other poor sap two posts down. Crying or Very sad

Newd_mini is fine. That link is the right build.

Follow the process for flashing in note 1 of the peacock announcement.
