Hello,
I'm really new to DD-WRT but could not find my specific question in these forums ... Perhaps someone can help...
I currently have a VPN (PPT) with static IP open on my Win XP Pro box. This PC is connected to the modem/router of my ISP.
The internet connection has 36 hour leases, so I'm loosing my internet connection and thus my VPN every 36 hours. However, I made a script on this PC that will "redial" so the VPN is restored.
I tend to use this PC/VPN only as an incoming mail server (port 25), so I would like the Win XP box to route to the internet NOT by means of the VPN, but accept incoming mails on the VPN IP.
when I modify the routing on my XP, such as:
0.0.0.0 mask 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.1 (IP of my router)
the Win XP will connect to the internet (without VPN). However, then all incoming connections (connections from mailservers) are rejected as well ?
DD-WRT software supports PPTP clients, so therefore my questions:
1. When I keep the modem/router of my ISP can I attach a DD-WRT router to it just for making the VPN connection. Will the VPN connection be restored automatically when my 36 hour lease of my ISP gets renewed ?
2. Can the DD-WRT be setup in such a way that my windows XP bypasses the VPN for all outgoing traffic, but "uses"the VPN for all incoming connections ?

Thanks for your answer ! Are these things simple to set up ? It's because I'm planning to buy another router just for this (and I already have a bundle of working routers which I'm no longer using, but are incompatible with DD-WRT)
