Thanks Per Yngve Berg, that was it, so this linksys E1200 can do port based and tag based VLANs.

If you run

nvram show | grep wan_hwaddr

It will display the mac of the WAN interface. Then you should be able to corelate what public interface it is going out of.

Yeah it should work, the iso just uses syslinux, so putting it on a USB is pretty easy. Unetbootin seems to work.
