/usr/sbin/smbd -D --configfile=/tmp/smb.conf

Hit enter, typed TOP to check what was running and there it was. Would it be better to use the command you wrote:

Build also does NOT work for FTP or SMB. Telnet works to access the connected drive. But it will not share.
