startservice httpd. but consider that the http webserver restarts itself automaticly. so something else is wrong at your place. maybe you disabled the webserver _________________ "So you tried to use the computer and it started smoking? maybe you just have a problem to connect to the router by network. the httpd has nothing todo with traffic and if ps shows still the process httpd, everything should be fine. maybe i should try to investigate if there is any bad issue with realtek adapters (beside the already known ones ) _________________ "So you tried to use the computer and it started smoking? I have a strange problem with a brand new machine I just built tonight while at work.
It's an AMD Sempron 2800 system with 128MB RAM, on a MSI MicroATX MB. There are three Linksys gigabit ethernet cards filling all 3 slots, plus the MB ethernet as well (nvidia). All non essential hardware is turned off in bios (floppy, SATA, Audio, etc).
All the NICs are recognized. I can connect to the web interface just fine, but it does not take any changes. One pages reports a disconnect, others just sit on a white screen. I cannot even upload a backed up config file from a test unit (same versions of DD-WRT). The httpd never crashes, and I can still access the main menus after this, but any changes I make do not take. and sends me to a white screen. It is running the 11-07-2006 version.
Could this be a HDD issue? Perhaps it is (for some reason) not writable, and freaks out the process. I'm tempted to try the 11-04-2005 without jffs filesystem. Somehow, I think the problem may go away.
I wish I could say the same. I have rebooted and re-'flashed' several times. I'm gonna try a different HDD sometime today. I wish I could find locally a CF/IDE adapter. Guess I'll have to mail order one.

The router is still working just perfectly, but the web interface is non functional after a few hours of routing
i can ssh, telnet, ping, etc. just fine. so from a command line, how do i restart the web server?
thanks
Hey bud. I seem to be having this exact same issue on the latest build. I'm running a WRT3200ACM. I do a ton of file transferring, and like you stated, after doing a lot, my router webui goes down. EVERYTHING else is working as far as I can see. Did you ever figure anything out on this?
The WRT3200ACM is not a X86 unit, so you cannot use the same FW.
Post in the Marvell Forum for this unit.
Well, I'm not using the exact same firmware obviously. I just figured it may be a general issue with DD-WRT. His issue sounds extremely similar to mine.
I do have a similar problem. After several clicks the webgui will freeze. I am running the most recent version of x86-64, r42410. It's running on a relic I threw together today from old parts layin around.
It's running on a usb stick, and is actually working flawlessly so far. I have openvpn set up and that is working, connection is great. Only problem is that webgui. For instance I just logged in and wanted to backup the settings so that's like 2 clicks to get to the page and it froze when I clicked the backup button. Sometimes it lasts longer. The router is still working fine though, in fact I'm connected to it as I post.
This is by no means my final build, hardware wise, so I'm wondering if this is a common issue? I'm wondering if I should go back to an earlier build, and if so how far back, since most of the hardware is like 12 years old. Also, if I manage to backup my settings before rolling back build, will the restore work on the older build for settings, or will it change the build?
One last thing that I thought was a bit weird, but maybe it's not considering my knowledge of this stuff, anyway the "router" recognizes the PCI nic as the wan and the onboard nic as the lan.

Not sure if DD is like OpenWRT, pfSense, OPNSense, etc. where you can change which NIC is which interface or not, but that may be an option. It's trivial in an x86* environment. Everyone seems to be having issues, no matter the hardware and I am not. I just do not understand why or what configuration item is breaking things, BUT there have been some changes for the next release that may fix these issues. Or not. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

Not really concerned about which nic is which, as long as it works. Just thought it was weird. I have more or less skirted around the webgui issue by bookmarking the tabs I use the most to reduce clicks and just exit quickly.
