I have a modem running on 4g wireless. I am running DD-WRT on an archer 9. The 4g modem is plugged into the archer 9's Wan port. Both at DCHP. All devices are connecting through the archer wireless.

I get faster internet when I connect directly to the 4g wireless modem.

Is there any settings I should look at on DD-WRT that could help with speeding it up?

Archer C9 beeing a dual core Arm A9 at 1 GHz (I think) should be capable of 300+ MB/s without SFE and 700 Mb/s with SFE (LAN<>WAN)

So what are exactly the speeds you are getting? How do you measure?

I would suggest making sure your wireless settings are the recommended here:
https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Basic_Wireless_Settings
https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Advanced_wireless_settings

How are you testing it. I would suggest dslreports speedtest, much more accurate than speedtest.net.

Thanks for replying guys.

The basic settings stuff is great, I didnt know about that. Everything is still set to default thought the only things I have worked with are setting static IP address, and installing and getting the YAMon3.4 script working.

I did some tests with dslreports.

On my desktop that is connected to the ddwrt router by ethernet cable it was good 35mbs down and 5mbs up.

On my S8 which is where the speed stuff was the issue is different as it is on wifi anyway. The speed seemed to be connecting to websites or loading link from fb or loading a new webpage, once it connected it was fine but would take up to a minute before it really started loading or something, anyway.
On the ddwrt wifi it was 2.5mbs down and 6.5 mbs up
On the isp modem router (which is on 4g if it matters) it was 9.5mbs down and 1 mbs up.

Any ideas of things I could change.

I am running an older version of ddwrt as it was suggested this would help with some stability issues I was having with YAMon.

I would suggest upgrading DD-WRT to at least 35244. It is fairly stable, some of the more recent ones are not. See the link in my signature.

First change some wireless settings:
Wireless Network Mode: NG-Mixed (2.4 GHz) and NG-Mixed (2.4 GHz)
Wireless Channel: Choose a channel manually, don't let the router choose one.
Channel Width: HT40 for 2.4GHz, VHT 80/160 for 5GHz.
WPA Algorithm: WPA2 Personal + AES

So i tried updating ddwrt throught the webgui from r32753 to r35244. I missed the proper resets and expect that xaused the issue.

After reboot all lights flash on for a few secs then the light that is an up and down curved arrows (not sure what it actually is) is solid.

I tried pinging it and got no response.

I hope i have covered everything. Any help would be really appreciated.

Any ideas?

But don't use that; use 35927.
