Hey, I have been trying to get ddwrt working on my small x86_64 machine, its the GoWin R86S

I am using the image
https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2024/02-27-2024-r55209/x86_64/dd-wrt_x64_full_efi_vga.image

I keep running into a kernel panic on boot.

Unfortunately i dont have control over the SATA mode via the bios, and cannot configure it to be in IDE.

The amazon item ad doesn't specifically state that this device supports DD-WRT.

Unfortunately i was not able to figure out how to boot in legacy with this device, so i was not able to give a non-efi version a try

However i did get it working:

I was not able to get any version from the *_full* working including the 2gib squashfs version.

What did work: https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2024/03-03-2024-r55262/x86_64/dd-wrt_x64_public_efi_vga.image

This only worked when flashed using rufus. I was previously using https://etcher.balena.io and ran into the same error.

What did not work: the *dd-wrt_x64_public_efi_vga.image* same build, using rufus.

Did you try the r54682 version? I had issues where the system would reboot 3 to 4 times with a panic before it would boot on versions after this build. The panics would be about after the USB detection happens then it would reboot.


Also once you get it going disable the Shortcut forwarding engine. This will cause random reboots.


The full version only has WIFI support and and more connections. If its not activated some features are disabled until activated.
