this would be really nice: having making the dd-wrt router a file and print server for USB connected hdd or printer.

we´re a router and wireless plattform....NO printer dongle! there is no need for such features in the builds.

maybe you can add it via ipgk

We could also add in APACHE, Streaming Media, a full featured DNS server, and your choice of Mysql or Postgresql.
And a new web interface to configure each of them.

Think of the possibilities.

Maybe I should have included <sarcasm> and </sarcasm>
however I still feel pinter support would be great.

I was thinking that you were joking. Still sharing a printer using s passthrou-driver is something very common.

That is IF ipkg would work on x86...

EDIT: Yes, this is an old thread but the lack of USB/IPKG support for x86 is a bit bothering for someone willing to pay cash if needed for a DD-WRT with the same features available on Broadcom routers.

just a thought, would setting up your system with XP or something and running DD-WRT in vmware solve this problem? let XP or something take care of serving things on your network and let DD-WRT do your routing for you.

Yes you can do it with VMWare, I'd ofcourse recommend Linux/unix as a host operating system, but generally any virtual machine system will do even with Windows at the base :)

anyways I'd do things so that I'd run 2 (or more if needed) virtual machines, one I'd use for DD-WRT ofcourse, and then another one for any other services one need, and leave the host computer as vanilla as possible. my 2 cents..

P.S. ipkg or equivalent I'd like to see too, but AFAIK currently nothing I can do about it..
