Areial Choice and wireless router

I am very impressed with x86, have just used wrt54gl's which were fine but just wer not powerful enough. I will be rolling them out over some sites.

I read somewhere about omni areials not being the best. What is the main difference / advantage / disadvantage of omni / sector for covering large open spaces.

Also can somebody recommend what is a very good powerfull wireless router that can be attached to my x86 box? I would like something that takes a wireles card
