My configuration is as follows:

- Verizon router to internet
- ESXi with virtual DD-WRT (v24-sp2 (03/19/12) std) to create a subnet.

I have configured the Verizon router with a static route to the subnet. Seems to work.

The problem is on the DD-WRT side. When set the DD-WRT to “Router”, I can access the subnet on the Verizon router side but I cannot access the internet from the DD-WRT side. However, when I switch the DD-WRT to “Gateway” mode, I can access both subnets and the internet from the DD-WRT side.

On DD-WRT router mode, I have tried every setting possible (including adding static routes) and nothing works. Does anyone know why this is happening?
