I wanted a way to quickly build dd-wrt VMs in ESXi so I packed a Linux iso.
Now its as simple as
1. Create a VM with two NICs and a 100Mb IDE disk.
2. Boot Using this iso
3. cd to /home/ and run the the script ./image-dd.sh
It will reboot and now you can web into 192.168.1.1
Configure your WAN and LAN flip the two nics and now you have a working ddwrt.
My question is can I give out this iso (for free) on my website?
I don't care if it is distributed elsewhere, I just want a link that I can reference in my documentation.
This is the dd-wrt_public_vga.image version.
Just wondering if the developers or community will have issues with it.

Can I use this to install on a physical pc? Swapping hard drives back and forth is a pain. I would like to have a bootable usb that will boot a live version of linux and then just dd the ddwrt software.
This sounds really close. Use a usb boot of linux. DD the ddwrt package and then profit.

Yeah it should work, the iso just uses syslinux, so putting it on a USB is pretty easy. Unetbootin seems to work.
I also have used it via pxe boot.
I have a video of the install on a VM

I chose this version of ddwrt because it was small.
Once the image is on, you can upgrade via web page, but you have to do set the lan_hwaddr to your internal nic's MAC address.

If you are going to add wifi I think you will need to get the pro version which requires a paid license.
