I remember this advice from two years ago, when I bought this device.
The wiki only mentioned either TFTP or the ASUS mini Webserver for D1 revision.
Nowadays it tells me to download files from external sources, wait, flash this do that...
Nope,
back then I flashed the most recent beta release via mini Webserver (somehow I wasn't fast enough for TFTP) and everything was fine.

NO, I ain't never used any silly ASUS restore utility.
There is absolutely NO need for such... just hold the reset button in till get slow bink power and you can TFTP whatever you want to it.
What I was getting at is I can merge my changes (from you) back in that "Vik748" removed. I wanted to confirm those were the changes; sounds like it since "Vik748" put in the Asus Restore Utility stuff. _________________ #NAT/SFE/CTF: limited speed w/ DD#Repeater issues#DD-WRT info: FAQ, Builds, Types, Modes, Changes, Demo#

It should probably give instructions for Asus Restore Utility, and then give the other options. I haven't looked at the wiki in question, but it should have all options to flash and recover that are applicable in there. Just my thoughts. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

I am not sure how could you all flash the K3x on Asus rt-n12d1
I belong to the people who can't install the K3X, and if succeed the router will boot with the usual lights pattern but no response (even to ping 192.168.1.1) and no WiFi network will be visible although the light is on (and yes I tried the WPS reset after flashing).
Anyhow, I could Flash the K26 with no problems, all version (Mini and Mega) from anywhere, Either the Asus firmware installation, or Asus Webgui (Version 3.0.0.4.374.813 ), or the mini flasher. My only problem the WiFi light will turn off once open the WiFi settings, but it will still work.
Remarkable, only when trying to install the K3X using Asus utility or Asus Webgui (Version 3.0.0.4.374.813), it will tell me that the firmware is not compatible and may brick the router (or something like this) and will not accept to flash. I can only flash it using DD-WRT K26 or the Mini Flasher.
Currently using:
Code:
Router Model Asus RT-N12B
Firmware Version DD-WRT v3.0-r42872 mega (04/10/20)
Kernel Version Linux 2.6.24.111 #14304 Fri Apr 10 00:26:56 +04 2020 mips

This thread was started when there was no firmware image to support the device. It was never meant to be a helpdesk or one-stop shop. These threads wind up growing to a cumbersome size and serve no purpose for the community. Please report successful flashes and issues with specific builds in the appropriate build threads.
