Es tut mir sehr leid, ich bin erst neulich in Deutschland deswegen spreche ich nicht gut Deutsch. Deswegen schreibe ich auf Englisch, vielen Dank für Ihre verständniss (written with the help of my wife Laughing

-------

My problem is the following (in hindsight I should have posted this before buying hardware):

We have rented a two floor apartment. Unfortunately phone outlet is on the upper floor and this is where I have my Speedport W 724V router/modem. Living room is on the lower floor and this is where I have Entertain system and TV. I decided to try dd-wrt router downstairs and bridge the upper Telekom router and try to set up Entertain via bridged wifi signal. I also need 4 LAN ports downstairs for other devices and an idea is to eventually set up router - router VPN between Germany and my home country (this is plan but not really important at the moment).

Both routers are therefore configured as per:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater_Bridge

Except for "Optimize Multicast Traffic Enabled", "Filter Multicast OFF" and changing of wl1 interface SSID to KTWWRL5G, no other settings were changed.

Problems:
1. Intermittently, about every hour or so, the whole setup crashes. When this happens, I loose wifi to upper router (SSID KTWWRL), I can see that on two DHCP end devices I am using. This instability is a lot worse lately for some reason but I haven't done any proper troubleshooting so far so can be ignored for now.

Example, last connection loss happened about 40 minutes ago. From July to January it was rather stable but I can say however that after bridging network with R7000 it became rather instable. I did not focus on this part yet as I am more interested in having problem number 2 answered first.

2. Main problem is - Entertain system is not working properly. When I first connected it to R7000, picture froze after about 3,4 seconds. I can change channels but picture will freeze every time. After setting Optimize Multicast Traffic (Wireless -> Basic Settings) to Enabled, Filter Multicast OFF (Security -> Additional filters) this period is a bit longer, 5-6 seconds but the picture still freezes.

Does anyone have experience with dd-wrt bridges and Telekom Entertain?

I know Telekom Bridge or Fritz routers would work, but I have no idea anymore what I can test to try and make TV work downstairs. Any help would be greatly appreciated! This is the primary goal of this post, if I can make this work, I will also try and resolve other problems, if not I might just go and lay the ethernet cable Smile

Should I maybe change bridge mode to something else (http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeating_Mode_Comparisons)? Having same SSID is not really important to me, bandwidth is but I am unsure if this would help at all?

You can also reply in german, I understand a lot and I can also ask my wife for assistance.

Vielen Dank!
