Hi all,

Running ver 23 sp2 and setting up the vpn.

I need to run vpn on port 443. Is it possible to change the port ?

Also if I change the port.. will a stock windows XP be abl to connect.. or do I have to chnage the port on the client.. (how ?)

Thanks

Doz

Its not possible to change that port. You have to use port 1723/TCP for PPTP. Thats fixed in Windows.

For a solution use OpenVPN. With OpenVPN you could choose whatever port you like (TCP and UDP). OpenVPN is also available for Microsoft Windows.

I took a look at that... but it looks headwork to get going...

Can a standard windows xp client connect to open vpn ? Again I guess it'll be port 1723...

No. You have to install the OpenVPN client on Windows XP.

To use PPTP from a corporate network will give troubles:
TCP port 1723 is not standard and also the GRE-protocol will be troublesome.

There is a special openvpn client for windows!

Details are in the wiki
