5 x86 Alix3C units have double radios, one is Gateway connected to the dsl modem and dhcp server enabled.
All units have WDS connection to the Ap/Gateway

The First Problem is: Sometimes on client AP WDS units wireless laptop users cant get ip`s.
Second one is: Sometimes we completely lost connection on one client AP unit.Need to connect via local cable to computer. After checking everyting it comes for a while.

Question Exclamation Does X86 AP/Gateway capable of serving 4 WDS AP units concurrent on second interface wireless Ap laptop clients like 20-30 laptops with dhcp server enabled?

Deployment information:
Arrow All AP interfaces using 1 and 6 channels, all units have 50-100 meters from each.AP-WDS is working on 2.4 13th channel with no enycription and hidden SSID.All antennas 7Dbi omnis
Arrow Ap/Gateway has one interface Bridged WDS-AP and he second interface Bridged AP mode.
Arrow 4 other units has same setup with one intfce WDS-AP second interfce AP mode.
Arrow All 4 units mac adress located in Ap/Gateway`s second interface/WDS-AP in WDS table. And all on client AP`s WDS table have Gateways Ap-WDS MAc adress.
Arrow On Ap/Gateway Client list all WDS units connected and shown real time rates.Sometimes Rx/Tx `0` mbts, tought no wireless client load!
Arrow All client wds units Gateway adress is Ap/Gateway`s ip adress
Arrow No wireless security enabled.
Arrow No firewall enabled.
Arrow No QOS
Arrow just simple One X86 Gateway and 4 x Client WDS units serving internet.

I would love to use Routing, but I am not a expert.
Any small tips for routing on this setup?I can handle the rest.
By the way,I never used routing until now.

Wiki ?! Shows the way??

its not that difficult if you know what to do.
i will write a guide in the wiki when i will have so sparetime at the weekend.

in general

apB-----clientA_apA------clientC

set the ip´s to eg:

apB 10.0.0.1/24
clientA 10.0.0.12/24
apA 192.168.168.1/24
clientB 192.168.168.15

tell clientB that apA is his default gateway
set the clientA_apA device to router mode

tell apB that requests to 192.168.168.0/24 will be routed through 10.0.0.12/24 (static route)

thats it!

apB-----clientA_apA------clientC

clientB has exactly the same config as clientC but with a different IP!
this is true for ALL the clients connected to apA!

i see you use hidden_ssid. this many times makes trouble. why dont you use encryption? if its a hotspot setup you should only encrypt the links between the wds_ap´s.

all devices are alix with 2 wlan interfaces?

Yes, ALix with two wlan interfaces.
first wlan is on channel 13 WDS_AP hidden ssid. The second one act as AP with works non-overlapping channels like 1,6,11..
Wds also in 2.4Ghz,due to lack of 5 Ghz antennas.

I tought enycription makes problem on wds units, that is why we close enycription. If we enable it,we wont see any problem, correct?
Wep,Wpa,Wpa2? Suggestion?

All units is same. All of them works as Hotspot..

you should start the testing with the internet connection on the left of the pic.

you should set it up like i posted above it will work exactly the same.
additionally:
dhcp for the clients should be done on the "pers" device. cant read it exactly.
wpa2 between "basestation" and "pers" will work.
there are 2 ways to connect.

"basestation" in wds_ap mode and 1 wlan card of "pers" will connect in wds_station mode. "basestation" is wds_ap only.
you have to read this:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/WHR-HP-AG108#FAQ

or
"basestation" in ap mode and 1 wlan card of "pers" will connect in client mode.
"basestation" is ap only.

and:
the 2nd wlan card of "pers" in ap mode.
"pers" has dhcp enabled. with "pers" as gatway and some dns server you like.
set "pers" to router mode in Routing.asp.

routing:
clients of "pers" receiving the right settings now via dhcp.
the last thing to do is to tell the "adsl router2" a static route to the "pers" clients network.
set a static route in Routing.asp.
Destination LAN NEt: the cleints network eg 192.168.0.0
Subnet Mask: the mast of this net. should be 255.255.255.0
Gateway: the most important setting. where to send pakets. to the wlan 1 interface of "pers" which is connected to the "basestation"!
Interface: lan/wlan

There is a Two Wlan Networks in this picture.
First is; on the back of building
Second one; in front of it around the pool and willas.

On the Pool Bar there is a Gateway with net connection also.
4 other units connected to the base with Wds_Ap,

according to FAQ you referred, each will be in Wds_Station on first wlan interface and second will work as AP.
No need them to be entered in Wds Mac Table,
!Please confirm this!
I am going to change all WDS_AP settings to this if they will work.

I am getting confused!!
Please forget routing..

Now I met 3-4 different settings..
Sash, please tell me the easiest way of this 4 units connection to the Base St. with also 2nd wlan works as Hotspot/AP...

jep. dont use the mac table.

just set you ap you like to connect ot wds_ap and the "client" which should connect to it to wds_station mode. they must have the same ssid. thats it
