Hi there, i want to develop a x86 mesh network and was wondering would i be good to use an old p3 PC or go with something like they sell in the dd-wrt shop?

Also can this be done, have a mesh network of say 10 and have 3 of those nodes having an ADSL connection and sharing it, so 3 x 8mb which would also work as redundancy

Aww how do you mean bridge them? Well I know technically what bridging network interfaces mean but after doing such thing then you wouldn't have router anymore, but only a powerfull network switch essentially and that makes no sense at all for router...

OR do you mean so that you would use some of the routers as plain accesspoints? Then you do disable WAN/Internet connection alltogether and afaik all your interfaces is then on same brigde on LAN...

maybe i am getting confused then. I have my WAN NIC and my LAN NIC however i cant access the internet. I want to turn my x86 PC into a hotspot, but i just want it to handle the DHCP server and the hotspot setup

What am i missing for it to do that, why cant i access the internet?
