I installed dd-wrt the other day and it was working fine. All the sudden I change the device name in the web control panel and it restarts. I think everything is fine untill i notice the air light isn't on and I cannot connect using 192.168.1.1

Does anyone have any info on this?

Cakk,

welcome to the club.. Seems to be a trend, changing a minor setting and it goes out of sync with this universe

*How do I hard reset?

*Woo now I'm getting cycle of doom where it keeps restarting over and over.
This happened to me last night and I went into recovery and it fixed but I'm having no luck now...

*Now I'm pinging it during its cycle and I get a reply or 2 > Hardware error > then request timed out.

Nothing.

I think I'm going to hit the hay. Unplug everything and pray that it works tomorrow.

Cakk and pock....what firmware build are you running.

Give me the svn number...or the build date if you can.

These sound like problems associate with old V24-final or V24-SP1 builds.

Caak. Although your problem sounds the same, don't assume that it is yet. Make sure you go through the posts in pocks thread and try what was done there. It seems there is occasional variations of the issue.

Knowing the version number is likely important.

dd-wrt.v24_mega_generic.bin Build 10020

Time to upgrade...this old SP1 has some bugs.

[EDIT] - BTW...where did you get this 10020....I've been seeing a lot of 10020 lately but the official SP1 build is 10011 or 10012 depending on model.

Cakk appears to have a problem similar to Pock.... Looks more and more like it is a SP1 issue, but why this build is bricking routers is not clear.

Cakk, post your specific responses to the ping steps in note 6 of the peacock thread sticky.

I'll get those pings in a second. But usually it just times out.

Pinging 192.168.1.1 with 32 bytes of data:

Interesting...this is new. I don't like the fact that 10020 and 11522 are the recommended builds.

This is not good....thanx for the info.

Cakk:

Could you please confirm that you have followed ALL of the precise steps in note 6? Particularly, firewalls off, and computer set to a static ip.

What do you get when you power cycle? (especially immediately after)

What do you get when you do a hard reset?

Did you try a different cable?

Redhawk:

Did you notice that pull down menu where there is also a choice of build 11522 as a pre-sp2 build?
