Hi,

After carefully reading the instructions, I ran the following command :
vboxmanage convertdd dd-wrt_public_vga.image dd-wrt.vdi

This created the virtualbox VDI image which is based on the dd-wrt public image. I configured and ran the VM and it all works well except for saving settings...
I am getting a /dev/nvram input/output error and nvram_commit() fails.

did I do something wrong ? If so, please suggest how to do things differently... if not, could it be that the image file posted doesnt include the nvram partition ?

thanks,

According to the X86 wiki installation note (http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/X86#Installation) The method to install involved dd'ing the image to a physical drive.
From your reply I understand that the vbox "convertdd" doesn't do the job. and I therefore need to have a VM running linux / windows with the new vdisk attached and run dd. Is this correct ?

I also assume that flashing an update will not do the trick as it will not touch the partition table..

EDIT:: Retried using the suggested method and it now works !!. Thanks.

One thing though.... the installation note says that more than 64MB are required for current versions, however my installation uses 8MB for root and 15±MB for part3 partition. Seems like I can use a smaller virtual drive... am i missing something ?
