[edit] Flashing Back To Stock Firmware
Use the recovery method below as it is not confirmed whether or not you can flash back to stock from DD-WRT webUI.
[edit] Recovery
[NOTE:] D-Link routers have Emergency Room for recovery
[edit] Prerequisites:
- Download D-Link firmware from the downloads tab of the Product Support Page.
- Optional: Download a known good factory-to-ddwrt.img
(i.e. https://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/11-10-2015-r28112/dlink-dir862/factory-to-ddwrt.img) - NOTE: You will need to use Internet Exlporer or an antique version of Firefox Portable to complete this.
- Optional: Download a known good factory-to-ddwrt.img
[edit] Procedure
- Plug the Ethernet cable that connects your computer, that was plugged into one of the LAN ports,
- Setup your PC with static IP - ex: 192.168.0.2 (different from 192.168.0.1)
- Make sure the PC has the new firmware
- Unplug the power
- Hold the reset button for 3~5 seconds and re plug the power WITHOUT RELEASING THE RESET BUTTON.
- Open a web browser to 192.168.0.1 and then you should see EMERGENCY FLASHING page then click browse/upload locate the file and click UPLOAD FIRMWARE NOW
- You should see a SUCCESS page, If you don’t then re do steps 2-6
- In step 6 you can use a factory firmware from D-Link webpage or factory-to-ddwrt.img file from DD-WRT.
- If you succeed with the above and you're back on D-Link firmware, then you can flash to DD-WRT if you didn't use the factory-to-ddwrt.img file.
[edit] Opening The Case
Unlike most non-D-Link routers, this style is mainly held in by clips and not screws. There are 3 Philips screws located under 3 out of the 4 rubber feet, the back 3.
